Hazel Johnson Mason, 69, of Elizabeth City, N.C., formerly of Suffolk, died Wednesday, March 5, 2003.

She was born on June 12, 1933, in Johnston County, N.C., and was the daughter of the late James Arthur and Fannie Rhodes Johnson. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard D. Mason.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, in McLaurin Funeral Home Chapel, Clayton, N.C. The Rev. Lloyd Hargis officiated. Interment was in Maplewood Cemetery.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Amy Mason-Miller and George F. Miller Jr. of Courtland; son, Travis D. Mason of Suffolk; brother, Edgar Johnson of Clayton; and one grandson, M. Derek Wetherington of Courtland.

George W. Rollins, 81, of 114 Hobbs Lane, Corapeake, formerly of Columbia, N.C., died Tuesday, March 11, 2003

The celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 13, by the Rev. Richard A. Browder in Parr Funeral Home, Suffolk. Interment will be private.

Friends may join the family other times at the residence.
