Nansemond-Suffolk Academy (NSA) senior Robert Crumpler has committed to Virginia Military Institute, the senior said Thursday. &uot;They have a great baseball program,&uot; Crumpler said of the Lexington Division I school, &uot;and they’re rebuilding, so they should have a place for me.&uot; He’s a top hitter and pitcher on the NSA baseball team, which opens its season Tuesday at Tidewater Academy. Crumpler, who also considered attending Hampden-Sydney College, will be joining Adam Keeling, with whom he played at NSA for the past two seasons.

&uot;The military aspect of VMI gives it a whole new challenge,&uot; said Crumpler, who’s unsure of which military area he’d like to enter. &uot;If you’re a first year cadet, the upperclassmen tend to boss you around. But it’s training you for boot camp.&uot;
