St. Mark AME hosting former resident today

The Rev. George J. Jordan, a former resident of Suffolk, will be the guest speaker at 3 p.m. today in St. Mark AME Zion Church, 817 McKinley Ave. Boston section. Rev. J. Maverick Smith, pastor.
Jordan, 23, attended St. Mark AME Zion, and later worshiped at St. Paul RZUA. As a child he attended the public elementary school system in Suffolk, and moved to the Denbigh section of Newport News in 1991. While there, he was a member of Bethel Temple Assembly of God, Hampton.
Jordan is married to the former Katherine Elizabeth Fleming of Massena, N.Y. They have a daughter, Autumn Margarie, and a son, Michael Raphael. He is the son of Michael L. and Gail Ricks Jordan of Newport News; he is the grandson of Mrs. Esther Smallwood Byrd of Suffolk, Mrs. Wirenella Elliot Jordan of Hobbsville, N.C., Rev. John W. Ricks Sr. of Washington, D.C., and the late Bessie Blount, who also lived in Suffolk.
