Blanche V. Wright

Mrs. Blanche V. Wright, 91, of 2000 Hosier Road, Suffolk, entered into eternal rest Sunday, April 6, 2003, in Autumn Care of Suffolk.
A native of Southampton County, she was born on Jan. 15, 1912, to the late Louvenia Ridley Colbert and Richard Colbert. She was predeceased by a son, Willie L. Wright; two brothers, William Colbert and Richard Colbert Jr.; and two sisters, Betty Brown and Alice Randall.
Mrs. Wright had retired from Planters, a division of Standard Brands, in 1972, after more than 40 years as a candy packer.
She was a member of Macedonia African Methodist Episcopal Church, where she was a member of the Annie Van Ricks Missionary Society and the Stewardess Board. For many years she was a RSVP volunteer with SEVAMP Senior Services as an ‘early alert’ volunteer.
Mrs. Wright is survived by her son, William ‘Harold’ Wright (Evelyn) of Suffolk; devoted daughter-in-law, Marion B. Wright, Suffolk; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ann Colbert, Newark, N.J.; Inez Colbert and Louise Jolly, Suffolk; three devoted nieces, Gloria Colbert, Patricia Hernandez and Phyllis Gardner; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 10, in Macedonia A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Charles L. Harvin Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, in Crocker Funeral Home, which is handling arrangements.
