Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Earl Lewis of Suffolk announce the engagement of their daughter, Janet Elizabeth Lewis, to Patrick Benjamin Owens, also both of Suffolk.

Mr. Owens is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Edgar Owens Jr. of Suffolk.

Miss Lewis is the maternal granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willard S. Holland, and the paternal granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John B. Lewis.

Mr. Owens is the maternal grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Percy F. Russell Sr., and the paternal grandson of Mrs. Claudian Wright Owens, and the late Mr. Henry Edgar Owens Sr.

Miss Lewis is a 1991 graduate of Lakeland High School; a 1995 graduate of Virginia Wesleyan College; a 1998 graduate of Old Dominion University.

She is employed by Elizabeth Arden Inc. of Stamford, Conn.

Mr. Owens is a 1996 graduate of Lakeland High School; attended Longwood College; and graduated from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard Apprenticeship program in 2002.

He is employed by the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth..

The wedding is set for 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17, in Magnolia United Methodist Church.
