Geneva D. Piland

Geneva Duck Piland, 85, of Suffolk, peacefully passed away on April 21, 2003, surrounded by her family.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many.
She was a native of Gates Co. N.C., and was the widow of Willie Issac Piland. She was a member of Magnolia United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was the daughter of the late Hattie and William Duck.
She loved to fish and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at her cottage in Kill Devil Hills.
She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce P and Ieager Lester of Suffolk; grandchildren, Ginger L. and William M. &uot;Bill&uot; Brooks Sr., and Willie Ray and Cindy J. Lester, all of Suffolk; great grandchildren, Casey Marie Lester, William Brooks Jr. and Elizabeth Brooks; sister, Margaret Spivey of Suffolk; and brother William Duck of Gatesville, N.C.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Mike Derflinger officiating. Interment will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may join the family from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at Parr Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Joyce P. and Ieager Lester at 1168 Nansemond Parkway. Suffolk.
