A 73-year old Suffolk woman was killed Saturday afternoon on Carolina Road, and police continue their investigation into the tragedy.

The victim, Evelyn Armstrong, of 100 Dover Court in the Betty Davis Village, was killed after her vehicle was struck in the driver’s side door by a 1985 Toyota pickup driven by Bobby E. Hudson of Babbtown Road.

Hudson was traveling north while Armstrong was attempting to make a southbound turn onto Carolina Road (Route 13). The vehicle then traveled across three lanes of traffic, landing in a ditch before coming to rest.

Hudson’s Toyota pickup sustained $5,000 in damages.

Armstrong’s daughter, Sandra Williams, said her mother was extremely well thought of in the community, especially for her help to others through Bethany Cathedral. She also helped others in the small neighborhood at Betty Davis Village.

&uot;The neighbors who didn’t have cars relied upon my mother to take them to doctors, to stores to pick up groceries and prescriptions,&uot; said Williams. &uot;She would take them out to anywhere they needed to go, and just about do anything for them. They have had nothing but wonderful things to say about my mother and how they will miss her. I know our family has lost an angel.&uot;
