Paul Trible, president of Christopher Newport University, and former United States Congressman and United States Senator, will deliver the commencement address at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 7. For 12 years Paul Trible represented Virginia in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate and for the past 6 years has served as President of Christopher Newport University in Newport News. Under his leadership, CNU has become a University of choice for high ability students from throughout Virginia. Applications have exploded by more than 300%, the SAT average of the entering freshman class has increased by 202 points and the CNU campus has been transformed by over $250 million in capital construction.

In April, the Education Review of The Washington Post ranked CNU No. 5 among &uot;20 undiscovered gems&uot; in Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina and Pennsylvania that &uot;deserve a closer look.&uot;
