A baby is safe this morning after falling into a six-by-six concrete water-filled pit Wednesday afternoon.
Suffolk Communications 911 Dispatchers received a call around 3:30 p.m. that a three year old had slipped into the pit while playing with a friend at a home in the 7200 block of Harvest Dr.
According to Suffolk’s Emergency Management Coordinator Captain Jim Judkins, the child was sitting on the side of the pit and then suddenly gone when his playmate turned to look at him. The playmate ran to get the child’s parents and when rescuers arrived, he told rescuers that all he saw was a &uot;cape&uot; floating in the water after his friend fell into the pit.
Fire and rescue personnel went to the scene, retrieved the child from the water and checked him for injuries. He was fine; however, they transported the child to Obici Hospital to make certain that he was in good condition.
