Dorothy C. Ward

Dorothy Ann Cutchin Ward went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, June 3, 2003. A native of Portsmouth, she was a daughter of the late Mary Ritter and Paul Solomon Cutchin Sr., and the widow of James Elliott Ward Sr. Mrs. Ward was predeceased by a sister, Mary C. Brock, and a brother, Paul S. Cutchin Jr.
Mrs. Ward was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught the Joy Sunday School class for 40 years and Bible Study for many years. She was the former owner of Travelers Rest/Dining Room Restaurant. She was loved by her many friends and cherished by all who knew her.
Survivors include one daughter, Ann W. Leister, and her husband, Warren, of Virginia Beach; one son, James Elliott Ward Jr., and his wife, Shelia, of Suffolk; two sisters, Margaret C. Horne of Smithfield; and Evelyn C. Drew, and her husband, Ed, of Fredericksburg; one sister-in-law, Carol B. Cutchin of Kitty Hawk, N.C.; three grandchildren, Jenny Ann Leister, Ashley Marie Daughtrey and Elizabeth Ann Ward.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. David H. Chauncey, with burial in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Mission Fund, 237 N. Main St., Suffolk, Va., 23434.
