Jeff Bateman, who runs the Jeff Bateman School of Karate on Portsmouth Boulevard, attended the Okinawa Masters Seminar from May 31-June 2. In September, Bateman (far left in front row) will be conducting the East Coast Masters Seminar with Master Yamashita (center, front row). In January 2004, the first Yamashita International Open Martial Arts Championship will be held in Norfolk.
