James E. Parker

James Edward Parker, of 6102 Leafwood Rd., Suffolk, died Saturday, June 21, 2003, at his residence.
A native of Nansemond County, he was the son of the late Henry and Lucy Cross Parker. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Marshall Parker, Merritt Parker, Lee Thomas Parker, Henry Parker, and Arthur Gilmer Parker.
He was a retired contractor and served honorably in the United States Army.
He was a member of the Corinth Chapel United Church of Christ.
He is survived by three daughters, Lorita W. Mayo (Stanley) and Mary A. Williams, all of Suffolk; and Linda W. Hill (Elliott) of Windsor; two sons, Ray D. Williams and Carlton L. Williams (Shelia of Suffolk; a special nephew, Gilmer C. Parker (Bernita) of Portsmouth; two sisters, Marie Bagley of Richmond and Hazel Wright (Eugene) of Portsmouth; five grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 26 in Corinth Chapel United Church of Christ by the Rev. Millard Boone. Interment will be in the Laurel Hill United Church of Christ Cemetery, Suffolk.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
