Oonina Smith, Richard Copeland wed in Fifth Baptist, Richmond

Oonina Smith and Richard McCoy Copeland Jr. were united in marriage on April 12, 2003, in Fifth Baptist Church in downtown Richmond.
The ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Keith Parham, and the reception followed at the Richmond Airport Hilton.
Oonina Smith is the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Thomas Emory Smith of Pittsburgh, Pa.
Richard McCoy Copeland Jr. is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard McCoy Copeland Sr. of Suffolk.
Miss Smith is the maternal granddaughter of Mrs. Susie Hargrove Christmas of Clarksville, and the late Thomas Henry Hargrove. She is the paternal granddaughter of the late Thomas and Ruth Smith, who lived in Richmond.
Mr. Copeland is the maternal grandson of George and Annie Hicks of Suffolk. He is the paternal grandson of the late Johnnie C. and Pattie K. Copeland, who also lived in Suffolk.
The bride graduated from Virginia Union University with a B.A. in education, and received a master’s degree in education administration from George Mason University.
She is an assistant principal in Prince William County.
The groom is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a B.A. in biology.
He is a sales engineer in northern Virginia.
After honeymooning on the island of St. Lucia, the couple now resides in their home in northern Virginia.
