Staff report
The new downtown police precinct will be open for business by the end of this week, said city officials.
Furniture is being moved into the new building, located at the corner of East Washington and Pinner streets, on Monday, said City Manager R. Steven Herbert. Final details, including making sure all the proper telephone lines are rolled over, also have to be checked before a permanent move.
Although the City Council had its ribbon cutting on the new building about a month ago, officers have continued to work from their temporary precinct at 625 E. Washington St. That precinct will close once the relocation is complete.
