Rosa E. Goodman

Mrs. Rosa Elam Goodman, 74, of 1343 Cherokee Ct., Suffolk, died July 5, 2003, in Autumn Care of Suffolk. She was the daughter of the late Cater L. Gatling and Alama Cross-Gatling of Gates, N.C. She was the wife of Charles Elam Sr. until his death. She then married Willie Goodman, who also preceded her in death.
She was a member of New First Baptist Church, Hosier Rd., and its sanctuary choir, member of the Eastern Star, and retired from P.D. Pruden Vocational Center.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Harriett Alexander of Portsmouth; three sons, David Gatling (Linda) of Bayside, N.Y.; Charles Elam (Jeanie) of Montgomery, Ala.; William Elam (Sharon) of Chesapeake; 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one nephew, and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m Wednesday in New First Baptist Church by the Rev. Lemuel Green. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at 1626 Dock Landing Rd., Chesapeake.
