James Boykins

James Boykins departed his life Monday, July 14, 2003. He was born on April 25, 1949 and was a resident of Suffolk. His parents, John Henry Boykins and Louise Owen Boykins, predeceased him.
James left behind a special friend, Tillery Woodley.
Other survivors include two sons, Timothy Chambers, and Rodell Douglas, both of Franklin; three daughters, Stephanie Douglas and Carolina Douglas, both of Franklin; and Marquita Douglas of Suffolk; seven grandchildren; four brothers, Roosevelt, John H. and Thomas Lee, all of Suffolk; and David Boykins of Mitchells; nine sisters, Ann, Janice, Shirley, Laverne, and Doretha Boykins, all of Suffolk; Darlice Baton and Bessie Douglas, both of Suffolk; Mary Holley of Norfolk; and Coralee Manley of Patterson, N.J.; one sister-in-law, Laverne Newsome Boykins, two brothers-in-law, James Lee Douglas, and Welton Holley. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The funeral is at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 19, in the chapel of Abraham Applewhite & Sons Funeral Home.
Viewing begins at 10 a.m. Friday, July 18, in the funeral home.
The family will assemble for the service at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19.
