Theotis Lamont Porter, 21, a 2001 Lakeland High School graduate, is not only a good scholar with a 3.2 Grade Point Average, but also he averaged double figures in both scoring and rebounds for the Essex Knights of Essex Community College, MD.
Porter, of the 1200 block of Truman Roadd., is still looking at colleges for the 2003-2004 term and said he will continue to play basketball for scholarships. He would like to turn basketball into a career; however, he does have a second career in mind.
&uot;My independent record label is &uot;Double I Entertainment,’ and we already have performers lined up,&uot; said Porter. &uot;I serve as president of the organization and I also perform as &uot;Five Stars’ with my group, the &uot;Ill Individuals.’ We are beginning to gain in popularity and we’re shipping our demos out to radio stations and to different labels. We would love it if one of the national labels would pick us up.&uot;
Needless to say, Porter’s mom and dad, Aron and Gladys Porter, are extremely proud of their son.
