A man fell during a parachute trial Saturday night and it’s not likely he will be buying the motorized ‘chute he was testing.
Joseph Peter Jacobs, 54, of the 6100 block of Park Lake Court in Virginia Beach, fell about 40 feet from a tree when he lost control of the motorized parachute and it drifted into the tree.
According to Suffolk Police Information Coordinator Mike Simpkins, the victim was testing the parachute with a friend from whom he hoped to purchase it.
&uot;I don’t think he’ll want to buy this thing,&uot; said Simpkins. &uot;He fell to the ground after the lines became entangled in the tree, and he hurt both his legs.&uot;
Simpkins said Jacobs was transported by Nightingale Air Ambulance Service to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He was listed in fair condition late Monday afternoon.
