An 83-year-old Chuckatuck man was killed Monday after he pulled out in front of a southbound tractor-trailer on Godwin Boulevard.
Mitchell Bounds, who lived in the 100 block of Five Mile Road, was attempting to make a left turn off that street onto Godwin around 2:05 p.m. when his 1999 Ford was hit by a 1998 Mack, said Officer Michael E. Simpkins, spokesman for the Suffolk Police Department.
The tractor-trailer driver, Darris John Wiggins, 39, of the 3600 block of Butler Road, was not injured, Simpkins said. The truck, registered to Vanguard Hauling Inc. of Suffolk, was hauling an unloaded log trailer.
No charges will be filed against Wiggins, Simpkins said.
