Vandybe Almond Sr.

Vandybe Almond Sr., 86, of 207 N. 7th St., Suffolk, died Aug. 2, 2003 in Obici Hospital.
A native of Isle of Wight County, he was a son of the late Joseph Almond and Anna Briggs-Almond. He was also preceded in death by a son, Willie &uot;Mickey&uot; Almond.
He was a member of Rising St. James Pentecostal Holiness Church and was retired from Hugh Holland Realty.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Addie P. Almond; five sons, Vandybe Almond Jr. (Jewel) of Raleigh, N.C., Earl Lee Almond (Brenda) of Norfolk; Alvin Lee Almond (Susan), Calvin Lee Almond and Jerome Parker (Deborah), all of Suffolk; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Almond; 22 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, Aug. 7, at 1 p.m. in New Mount Joy Worship Center by Dr. William P. Wiggins. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence.
