The Southwest Bypass is finally open, allowing traffic to travel around surprising Suffolk to Food Lion, Farm Fresh and Wal-Mart. Praise the Lord!

Epps Seed & Feed has opened a second location south of Whaleyville. Amen. Stop by and visit with Mike Beale, who is very knowledgeable on a variety of products and friendly too!

If allowed to, will personally have the master key to Constant’s Wharf Center gold plated and present it to Steve Herbert so he can wear it around his next as this project will hang the taxpayers of Suffolk.

The Nansemond Indians continue to get the shaft. Give them the 104 acres of swampland. Hey, they just might show the Planning Commission how to turn a profit out of nothing. In case you have forgotten, this land in its entirety was once theirs and we palefaces took it from them in the name of Christianity.

I’m glad Kelly’s is locating in surprising Suffolk. However, Kelly’s should first read the fine print from the Planning Commission (a group of old fogies appointed by city council that does as it’s told to continue their position and thinks everyone leaves work at 5 p.m. and goes home to the little wife). The Planning Commission needs to take into consideration that the divorce rate nationwide is 51 percent, and divorcees spend big bucks at these establishments, so why not locally? Yes, they require music (canned and live on weekends above 65 decibels) and I doubt anyone in Riverview will hear it as most, like myself, retired at 9 p.m.

Gasoline regular unleaded in surprising Suffolk is $1.419 per gallon at name brand stations. Why is it .04 – .05 a gallon less expensive 25 miles west in Franklin? Taking freight into consideration, it should be the reverse. How about it, Mr. Herbert, is your finger in this pie also? If not, whose?
