Jessie James Brownson of 206 N. Division St., Suffolk, was called home from labor to reward early Saturday morning, Aug. 16, 2003. Jessie was born on Sept. 3, 1926, to the late Ellis Brownson Sr. and Victoria Wilson, in Williamson, S.C.
Jessie leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Velma L. Brownson, five daughters, Nell Wilkins, Vallory Ward, Sandra V. Gray, Vicky Dixon, and Renee Parker; six sons Robert Gay, Kerry Jones, Anthony Jones, Bryant Dixon, Ronald Reynolds, and Donald Reynolds; two brothers, Charles Brownson and Robert Brownson; four sisters, Mary Jackson, Pensicola Brown, Alberta Snead, and Thelma Canty; and several grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, devoted friends, and family.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
Viewing will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Friday, and a wake service 6 to 7 p.m. Friday.
The family will receive visitors at all other times at the residence.
