Suffolk authorities charged a young boy and a teen girl with rape and abduction in an incident that took place Friday night in the northern end of the city.
The boy, a 12-year-old John Yeates Middle School student, and a 15-year-old Chesapeake girl are charged with allegedly abducting a 14-year-old Chesapeake girl and later raping her in the boy’s home in the 6100 block of Bradford Drive, said Lt. Debbie J. George, interim spokeswoman for the Suffolk Police Department.
The boy has been released and is under electronic monitoring detention, according to reports late Tuesday. The girl remains in the custody of Tidewater Detention Home.
Meanwhile, the victim was hospitalized for one night after the assault, George said.
According to George, the incident took place while approximately eight other juveniles, ranging in ages 12 to 15, were in the home. She said the boy’s father had gone to a local store for a few minutes, leaving no adult supervision at the house, George said. When he received a call advising that his home was filled with juveniles, he went home immediately.
Police said he has been cooperative in the investigation.
Additional charges are pending against the two juveniles, Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Marie Walls said.
