Rachel Weller, James Deaton married in Brentwood UMC

Rachel Erin Weller and James Hollis Deaton Jr. were united in matrimony Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at Brentwood United Methodist Church in Brentwood, Tenn. The Revs. Rob Huckaby and William Douglas, uncle of the bride, officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Allen Weller of Brentwood. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Paul Markey Riherd of Gainesville, Fla., and the late Mr. Riherd, and of Mrs. Robert Allen Weller of Gallatin, Tenn., and the late Mr. Weller.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Hollis Deaton of Suffolk. He is the grandson of Mrs. George Fenton Turner of Suffolk, and the late Mr. Turner, and of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Arnold Deaton, who all lived in Suffolk.

The former Miss Weller is a graduate of Centennial High School, Franklin, Tenn., and attended Bluefield College in Bluefield.

Mr. Deaton is an honors graduate of Nansemond River High School and received a bachelor’s degree in history from Bluefield College.

The bride wore a white peau de soie short-sleeved gown overlaid with tulle. Her gown and cathedral train featured a re-embroidered floral design accented with seed pearls. The bride’s fingertip-length veil was attached to a pearl-covered tiara. Her attire was complemented by a blue topaz pendant and matching earrings.

She carried a bouquet of white, pink and red roses.

The maid of honor was Becca Weller, sister of the bride. She wore an antique rose satin A-line dress accented along the back with cranberry, dark antique rose and antique rose satin flowers.

Attending the bride were Meghan Clifton of Concord, N.C., and Chrissy Billante of Brentwood. The bridesmaids wore cranberry satin A-line dresses with antique rose, dark antique rose and cranberry satin flowers.

The best man was Casey Simpkins of Suffolk.

Groomsmen were Mark Turner of Signal Mountain, Tenn., cousin of the groom, and Michael Harrington of Suffolk. Rob Weller, brother of the bride, served as an usher.

A reception was held at the University Club of Nashville.

Following a short honeymoon, the couple is making its home in Suffolk.
