The Lady Cavaliers fell 2-1 to Maury, despite holding a 13-4 shooting advantage (Lindsay Cutchins had the sole goal). River got rolling with a 5-0 defeat of Churchland, but later fell 4-1 to Jamestown. Brandi Novak, Amy Baines, Laura Nelson, Katie O’Hara and Whitney Witt scored in the victory, while Novak scored in the loss.

Kelsey, normally a goalkeeper for the undefeated varsity team, scored the first goal on an assist from Mandy Spivey less than 90 seconds into the game. Spivey knocked a corner shot to Kelsey near the center of the circle, and the sophomore Lady Cavalier knocked it into the right side of the cage.

The rest of the half was scoreless, but Spivey, Kelsey and Heather Byrd repeated the process less than two minutes into the second period. Spivey came into the circle from the right side, and passed to Kelsey in the center. Kelsey passed to Byrd, wide open near the right post, for the second score.

Byrd scored again on an assist from Kelsey with 1:18 to go.
