Civic league holding banquet

Carolyn S. Mayfield will be the guest speaker for the East Suffolk Garden’s Civic League Banquet at 6 p.m. today. The event will be held in the Disabled American’s Veteran’s Chapter 5 Building at 139 S. Saratoga St.
Mayfield is a resident of Suffolk and attended Norfolk State University to earn a Bachelor’s degree in English education and a Master’s degree in English.
She also attended The College of William and Mary and received a Doctor of Education degree in higher education.
She is employed as an associate professor of English at Paul D. Camp Community College and is an administrator and faculty member at Norfolk State University.
She is a member of First Baptist Church in Norfolk and also holds membership with the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the Suffolk Chapter of the Links Inc.
Mayfield is married to Spencer Mayfield Jr. and they are the parents of three daughters, Kerrita, Karrin, and Kellie.
John Monroe is program chairman.
