Rosa M. Johnson

Rosa Mae Johnson, a native of Savannah, Ga. and a resident of Suffolk, died Oct. 11, 2003.

She was a member of East End Baptist Church, Suffolk, and was a former member of Christian Mission Fellowship Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Pa. for 21 years. She was a Sunday school teacher and traveled on several international mission trips. She was also a former member of Holy Trinity Baptist Church in Atlantic City, N.J.

Rosa Mae Johnson served at the Encounter Bible Church for five years in York, Pa. She was the Women’s Mission Union Director at Christian Mission Fellowship Baptist Church.

She was also in the Senior Adult Bible Class No. 2 at East End Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, the Rev. William A. Johnson Sr.; four daughters, Dorothy Mae Lewis and Marie Pleasant (Robert), all of Philadelphia, Pa.; Cynthia Annette Johnson of Florence, S.C.; and Karen Denise Croston (Dr. Mark A. Croston) of Suffolk; two sons, William Augustus Johnson Jr. of Denver, Colo.; Lyndon Troy Johnson Sr. (Natalie) of Wilmington, Del.; one sister, Alice Lee Kent of Savannah, Ga.; one brother, Nehemiah Johnson of Savannah, Ga.; one aunt, Geneva Huff Brown of Savannah, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in East End Baptist Church with Dr. Mark A. Croston Sr., presiding. Burial will be in Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery.

Harris Funeral Home Inc., 685 Carolina Road, is in charge of arrangements.
