Spencer R. Bailey Jr.

On Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003, Spencer Ralph Bailey Jr. went home to be with the Lord.

He was born on Feb. 17, 1933, in Isle of Wight County, to the late Spencer R. and Mary Elaine Holliman Bailey Sr.

He was a disciple of the Corner Stone Missionary Baptist Church, Suffolk.

After 30 years of service, he retired from the Newport News Dry Dock and Company, Newport News.

He enjoyed talking on the &uot;CB&uot; radio and many people knew him as &uot;Sharpeye,&uot; &uot;419&uot; and &uot;Stonebroke.&uot;

He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Beulah W. Bailey, two daughters, Bonnie Griffin (Johnny) and Donna T. Bailey, both of Suffolk; three sons, Gregory E. Bailey (Keisha) of Franklin; Rufus L. Bailey (Daphanie) and Algenon A. Bailey, all of Suffolk; two sisters, Virginia Evans (Walter) of Carrsville and Shirley Pierce (Willie) of Suffolk; two brothers, William (Bill) Bailey (Ann) of Manhatten, N.Y. and Paul Bailey (Shirley) of Holland; two aunts, Georgia A. Kindred and Mary Williams of New York; two uncles, Authur Holliman (Vertly) and Ralph Holliman; five sisters-in-law, Louise Knight, Clara Kindred, and Archie Lyons (George), all of Suffolk; Dorthy Smith and Carrie Gerno (George) of Passiac, N.J.; nine grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral will be held at noon Thursday in Tabernacle Christian Church where Dr. Carlton R. Upton is the pastor. The eulogy will be provided by Dr. A.E. Wiggins of Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Thursday.

The family will receive family and friends at 4965 Indian Trail, Suffolk.
