Jonathan Avella Williams, 49, of 844 Chimney Hill Parkway, Virginia Beach, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, in Obici Hospital. He was a native of Maryland.
He was a 1972 graduate of Western Branch High School, Portsmouth, and attended Hampton University.
He was employed as an electrician at Norfolk Naval Shipyard for 17 years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Mahan Street, where he served as an usher.
He was also a member and past exalted ruler of the Suffolk Elks Lodge No. 206.
He is survived by his parents, Leon Ashable Williams of Suffolk; and Helen Mobley Boone Williams of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Pamelyn A. Liles (Charles) of New York City; and Dora Reid of Kansas; one brother, Dwight A. Williams (Patricia) of New York City; three nephews, Kamau, Graham, Cameron; numerous cousins and other relatives and friends.
The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, in First Baptist Church, Mahan Street, by the Rev. Steven L. Blount. Interment was in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk.
Elks Rites were accorded Wednesday in Crocker Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at 310 Van Buren Ave.
