Claudine Wright Owens, 84, of 1044 Nansemond Parkway, Suffolk, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, in the Chesapeake Home for Adults.

A native of Nansemond County, she was the widow of Henry Edgar Owens Sr., and a daughter of the late George Lemuel Wright and Ida Corbett Wright. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Jennifer Gray; two brothers, and three sisters.

She had retired as an LPN from Louise Obici Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of Magnolia United Methodist Church, Savage Bible Class, United Methodist Women, and the Prime Time Singers.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Audrey O. Wells and husband, Daniel, of Smithfield; and Nancy O. Gray and husband, Tom, of Buxton, N.C.; sons and daughters-in-law, H. Edgar Owens Jr. and wife, Nancy; and Roger E. Owens and wife, Gretchen, all of Suffolk; 10 grandcildren, nine great-grandchildren; one sister; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31, in Sidney F. Harrell Chapel of the Harrell & Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Derflinger officiating. Interment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.

Friends may join the family from 7-8 p.m. Thursday in the Harrell & Hill Funeral Home, and other times at the home of her son, Edgar Owens Jr., 1532 Wilkins Dr.
