Saint teams fall in opening rounds

The Nansemond-Suffolk Aca-demy field hockey and boys volleyball teams lost in the first round of their respective season-ending TCIS tournaments earlier in the week.
Lakeland Winter Sports meeting Nov. 4
Lakeland High School will be holding its Winter Sports Invitational meeting at 7 p.m. Nov. 4. Athletes and parents interested in meeting coaches and learning about winter sports (basketball, wrestling) should attend.
Local AAU boys basketball teams holding tryouts
The Suffolk Blazers 11U team is holding open tryouts at Mack Benn Elementary on from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 5 in Mack Benn Recreation Center. For more information contact Chris Watson at 373-7935 or Don Henderson at 646-4336.

AAU tryouts and conditioning for the 14U and 12U girls teams will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 8, and from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 10, 13 and 17 in Mack Benn Recreation Center.
STA banquet to be held Nov. 8
The Suffolk Tennis Association will be holding its annual tennis banquet at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 8 in the Nansemond River Golf Club. Local champions will be awarded their trophies.
