George Hawkins, 83, of 317 Spruce St., died Monday, Nov. 3, 2003, in Obici Hospital.

He was a native of Littleton, N.C. and was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Hawkins and Mary Wright-Hawkins, and wife, Corine Hawkins.

He was a member of By The Door Christian Church.

He is survived by two sons, George W. Hawkins of Waterbury, Conn.; and James A. Hawkins of Suffolk; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Helena Brown; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in New Mt. Joy Worship Center by the Rev. Dallas Sharpe. Interment will be in Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery.
