Hazel Moody Bartles, 80, of Suffolk, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003.

Born on July 19, 1923, in Suffolk, she was a daughter of the late George Thomas and Effie Howell Moody, and widow of Charles Jarvis Bartles Jr.

Mrs. Bartles had retired from Starkey Mathews as bookkeeper and office manager.

She was a member of First Baptist Church and Virginians Opposing Drunk Drivers.

Survivors include her sons, Charles J. &uot;Jack&uot; Bartles III of Suffolk, Phil Wayne Bartles of Newport Richey, Fla.; four grandchildren, sisters, Anne Rountree, Jacqueline Shackelford, Shirley Underwood, and Tommy Buchanan, all of Suffolk; Isabel Wills of Windsor; Barbara Sutton of Austin, Texas; and a brother, Garland Talmadge Moody of Suffolk.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the R.W.Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory by the Rev. Charles W. Thompson.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
