Steve E. Whitaker, son of the late John Whitaker and Geneva (Bell) Whitaker, was born on Sept, 11, 1950. The Lord called him home when he died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, in Obici Hospital.

Steve was a graduate of I.C. Norcum High School and attended Paul D. Camp Community College.

He also served in the Army.

He was predeceased by one brother, James Whitaker, and one sister, Beatrice W. Jones.

He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Geneva B. Whitaker of Suffolk; four brothers, Clinton Whitaker of Suffolk; Frederick Whitaker (Vicky) of Los Angeles, Calif.; McKenzie Whitaker (Alice) and Haywood Whitaker, both of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Marannia Faulk of Suffolk and Lula Ametro Whitaker of Washington, D.C.; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends; and a devoted a friend, Evelyn Bryant.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church, Orlando. Interment will be held in Holly Lawn Cemetery.

Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday in T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home.
