Mrs. Maude E. Perry, 72, of 219 Prospect Road, Apartment 111, Suffolk, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003.

She was a native of Chowan County, N.C., and a daughter of the late Charlie and Mrs. Lillie Clemons Mayo, and widow of Hersey Perry.

She was a member of Balm of Gilead Baptist Church, its Senior Usher Board, No. 3 Usher Board, Pastor’s Aide, Missionary Circle, and Widows’ Club.

Surviving are seven daughters, Peggy Wilson, Lillian Mayo, Gloria Darden, Gwendolyn Owens, Cheryl Debraux, Wanda Hopson, Angela Nelson, all of Suffolk; four sons, John Mayo, William Mayo, Hersey Mayo, all of Suffolk; and Marvin Mayo of Portsmouth; one sister, Emma King of Suffolk; one brother, William Mayo of Greenville, S.C.; 38 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, in Balm of Gilead Baptist Church by the Rev. Charles D. Leavell. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The body will be taken from Peebles Funeral Home to the church at 11 a.m.

The family will be at 2676 Badger Road.
