Cavaliers win in Ciba contest

Congratulations to three Lakeland High School students who earned top prizes in a recent poster contest sponsored by Ciba Specialty Chemicals in recognition of National Chemistry Week, which was celebrated in November.
Based on the national theme &uot;Earth’s Atmosphere and Beyond!,&uot; earth science students at the high schools were invited to draw a poster illustrating contributions made by chemistry to the advancement of aviation and atmospheric chemistry.
This theme coordinated with the 100th anniversary of the Wright Brothers’ First Flight in Kitty Hawk, N.C.
Winners were announced this week. Adam Stephenson earned first place and was presented a Meade NG-60 Telescope. Demestrius Harper earned Second Place and was presented a Discovery Portable Spotting Scope.
David Haskins earned Third Place and was presented the DVD &uot;95 Worlds & Counting.&uot;
