Jennifer Brinkley and Katelyn Smither of the South-eastern District-winning Lakeland field hockey team got an early Christmas present earlier this week, as both were named to the All-State team. Brinkley, a midfielder who was named the Best All-Around Lady Cavalier at the Lakeland fall sports banquet, was named to the Honorable Mention team, while Smither, a junior forward, was named to the First team. Both girls were named to the All-Southeastern and All-Region team, and Smither was voted the District Player of the Year and Co-Region Player of the Year.
