Charles H. Brown Jr., 62, of 23 Sewell St., Hempstead, N.Y., died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003 in Mercy Hospital, Hempstead. He was a native of Nansemond County. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles H. Brown Sr. and a brother, James Melvin Brown.

He was an Army veteran, and had retired from Sears Department Store of New York.

He is survived by his wife, Mary F. Brown of Hempstead; three sons, Vincent Charles Brown, Charles M. Brown and Michael C. Brown, all of Hempstead; three daughters, Kimberly Brown and Ivory Brown, both of New York City; and Ebony Brown of Hempstead; his mother, Erma M. Brown of Suffolk; two sisters, Audrey L. Turner of Virginia Beach, and Charlotte Brown of Suffolk; one brother, Vernon Brown of Suffolk; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27 in Crocker Funeral Home by Bishop Madison Copeland. Interment will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery.

The wake will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday in Crocker Funeral Home.

The family will assemble at the home of his mother, Erma M. Brown 107 Reid St., Suffolk.
