A construction worker was killed around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday after falling through the roof of a facility under construction at a northern Suffolk military training site.
Michael Wayne Campbell, 39, of Norfolk, was unconscious when emergency units arrived at the Joint Training, Analysis, and Simulations Center (JTASC), located in the 100 block of Lakeview Parkway, around 11:30 a.m., said Lt. Jim Judkins, spokesman for the Suffolk Department of Fire and Rescue. Emergency personnel immediately administered advanced life support and took him to Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Campbell was a foreman for Roof Services of Holland Road in Virginia Beach.
Typically, OSHA investigates industrial accidents, Judkins said. However, he said late Wednesday that he hasn’t heard from the federal agency on this incident.
