Nathan Skeeter

Nathan Skeeter, 70, of 1602 Carolina Road, Suffolk, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, in Obici Hospital.
He was a native of Suffolk and the son of the late Claude Skeeter Sr. and Alma Gill Skeeter.
His wife, Elma T. Skeeter; brothers, Claude Skeeter Jr. and Russell Skeeter preceded him in death.
He attended Nansemond County Public Schools and served in the U.S. Army. He was employed by Planters, Franklin Logger, and Ben E. Babb Construction Company where he retired as a machinist.
He was a member of Mt. Ararat Christian United Church of Christ where he served on the Trustee Board and was a member of the Men’s Fellowship. He was a member of the Men’s Progressive Club, the Hosier Lane Hunting Club and the Missionary Lodge No. 1.
He is survived by his four daughters, Marilyn Pttman (Arrington) and Paula Collins, both of Suffolk; Yvonne Goodman of Williamsburg, and Audrey Robinson (John) of Clinton, Md.; a son, Eric Lassiter (Paula) of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Myrtie M. Skeeter of Suffolk; a brother, Clifton Skeeter (Florine) of Suffolk; two stepsisters, Mary Ann Austin of Suffolk and Ruby Blizzard of Portsmouth; two stepbrothers, Ernest Williams of Portsmouth and Elbert R. Williams (Florence) of Suffolk; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, nine sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, in Mt. Ararat Christian Church with the pastor, Dr. H. H. Murrill officiating. Interment will be in the Lauder Skeeter Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
