Richmond pastor to speak at banquet

The Rev. Jerome Ross will be the guest speaker at the 38th Annual NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet this weekend.
A full house is expected to attend the event being held at 5 p.m. Feb. 15 at Temple Beth El, 33027 Bridge Road, said Michael Ricks, program chairman.
Ross is the pastor of Providence Park Baptist Church in Richmond and is an associate professor of Hebrew Bible in the Virginia Union University’s School of Theology.
Doc Christian, a Portsmouth native and assistant music minister at Calvary Baptist Church in Norfolk, will provide entertainment.
Christian is the community affairs director for Clear Channel-Norfolk/WSVY-105.3, host producer for a program called &uot;Joy In The Morning,&uot; and technical producer for the Tom Joyner Morning Show. He also recorded with the late Rev. James Cleveland.
The Rev. Charles L. Harvin, pastor of Macedonia African Methodist Episcopal Church, will serve as master of ceremonies.
