Councilwoman Linda T. Johnson, who represents the Sleepy Hole borough, has not yet filed. However, she has said she will be seeking a second term.

Political newcomer Thelma Hinton, 46, a member of the Suffolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority, is challenging incumbent School Board member John Riddick for the Nansemond seat.

Both Riddick and James Perkinson, who represents the Sleepy Hole borough on the School Board, have filed for re-election.

School Board member Sharon Harris’s seat will be free this year. She hasn’t indicated whether she will be seeking re-election.

Candidates have until March 2 to file, said Patsy Parker, voter registrar.
