Enjoy breakfast with the farmers

Corn, soybeans, cotton, and peanuts will be the featured items at Bunny’s Restaurant Monday morning, Feb. 23, as farmers attend a special meeting sponsored by Virginia Cooperative Extension.

Rexford E. Cotten, extension agent/agriculture for Suffolk, is encouraging all southeast Virginia Farmers and northeastern North Carolina farmers to attend. Those attending can enjoy a hearty farmer-style meal while hearing the one-hour program, &uot;Corn, Soybean, Cotton, and Peanut Markets.&uot;

&uot;We will also listen to marketing strategies and planting decisions for the 2004 production season,&uot; said Cotten. &uot;Representatives from Farm Bureau and Peanut Growers Cooperative Marketing Association will be on hand, leading the discussion.&uot;

Always looking out for the farmers of Suffolk’s 430 square miles, Cotten will have booklets available, &uot;2003 Soybean Trials&uot; and the &uot;2004 Peanut & Production Guide.&uot; They are free for the asking and all farmers are invited to pick them up.

Every farmer interested in firming up and finalizing plans for the 2004 season – March planting is upon them – is invited to attend.
