Bishop Herbert L. Boone Jr. 77, of Woodland Trail, Suffolk, died Saturday, April 17, 2004, in Obici Hospital.

He was a native of Nansemond County, and was the son of the late Herbert Boone Sr. and Elizabeth Smith Boone. He was preceded in death by a son, Linwood Boone.

He had retired from the Naval Air Station as a machinist.

He was the founder and pastor of Healing Fountain Holiness Church in Elizabeth City N.C.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Davis Boone; four daughters, Hazel Harrell (Joe) of Elizabeth City; Angelia Stagg (Eley) and Tammy Little (Timothy) of Chesapeake; Janie Taylor (Jerome) Germantown, Md.; five sons, Herbert Boone III (Erma) and Edward Boone (Cynthia) of Suffolk; Bobby Boone (Rose Mary) of Smithfield; Cornell Boone (Roberta) of Chesapeake; and Leland Boone of Portsmouth; a special granddaughter, LaTonya Stagg; two sisters, Audrey Redding (Sam) and Mariah Bright of Portsmouth; 23 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the New Mount Joy Food for Living Ministries by Bishop William P. Wiggins. Interment will be held in Holly Lawn Cemetery.
