Church celebrating anniversary

Bravitt Manley Jr. of Washington, D.C. will deliver the homily when the congregation of St. Mark Episcopal Church celebrates its 89th birthday at 10 a.m. April 25.
Bravitt is a native of Vallejo, Calif. and grew up in Portsmouth. He attended St. Mark along with his parents, Bravitt and Celtine Manley Sr.
He graduated from Manor High School in Portsmouth, and was baptized and confirmed at St. Mark.
He received a B.A. degree in English with distinction from the University of Virginia in 1981 and his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1984. He has been admitted to practice law in Virginia, Washington, D.C. and Maryland, and maintains his law office on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C.
The men of St. Mark will host a parish dinner immediately following services.
