Denson Pretlow, Rob House wed in Wesley Chapel UMC

Denson Anne Pretlow and Robert Vaughan House Jr. were united in marriage Saturday evening, April 24, 2004, in Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Suffolk.

The Rev. Gretchen S. Nelson officiated the double-ring ceremony.

A reception was held following the ceremony in the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joshua Pretlow Jr. of Suffolk.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Vaughan House of Suffolk.

The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Euell R. Williams and Mrs. Joshua Pretlow of Suffolk, and the late Joshua Pretlow.

The groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Allen House, who lived in Suffolk, and the late Mrs. Corinna Ruffin Gilliam and the late Mr. Edward H. Ruffin, who lived in Prince George County.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.

Ellis Harris Pretlow, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. The matron of honor was Mrs. Sarah Kincaid Lesko, childhood friend of the bride.

Robert V. House served as his son’s best man, and Edward Ruffin House, brother of the groom, served as the groomsman. John Clifton Harrell Jr., Charles Randolph Birdsong, William Corless Russell, and Ray Eley Duke III, all of Suffolk, served as ushers.

Dr. Stephen Boyd and Jennifer Christine Jones were readers.

Mrs. Joshua Pretlow Henderson of Cary, N.C. was the mistress of ceremonies.

A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents on Friday evening at the Town Point Club in Norfolk.

The bride is a graduate of Nansemond-Suffolk Academy and the University of Virginia, where she received a B.S. in sociology. She is employed as a leasing agent at Parkway Realty Services in Norfolk.

The groom is a graduate of Nansemond-Suffolk Academy and Elon University, where he received a B.S. degree in business administration. He is vice president of Suffolk Insurance Corporation.

After a wedding trip to Barbados, the couple will reside in Suffolk.
