Amy Harrell, Ross Finley wed in evening ceremony

Amy Leigh Harrell and Ross Culbertson Finley were united in marriage on Saturday, May 1, 2004, at half past six o’clock in the evening at the home of the bride’s parents in Suffolk. The Rev. Curtis Faison of Newsoms Baptist Church officiated with music provided by &uot;Sounds by the Sea.&uot;
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Harrell Jr. of Suffolk.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dee S. Finley Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas.
Amy is the maternal granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick D. Worrell, who lived in Newsoms, and the paternal granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Harrell Sr. of Suffolk.
Ross is the maternal grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin J. Groner, who lived in Baytown, Texas, and the paternal grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dee S. Finley Sr., who lived in Fort Worth.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride chose a gown designed by Pronovias of Barcelona, Spain. The gown featured an empire bodice with a sweetheart neckline of elegantly ruched silk lurex organza. The fitted skirt of embroidered tulle flared with a sweeping chapel train. The bride wore the veil from her mother’s wedding 30 years ago, as well as an exquisite choker of pearls and diamonds, designed by R. Glenn Yelvington and handmade in India.
Emily Ann Harrell, sister of the bride, served as the maid of honor.
Bridesmaids included: Mrs. Mary Lauren Hysinger Alday of New York City; Lisa Marie Allen of Raleigh, N.C.; Mrs. Kimberly Austin Bamonte of Charlotte, N.C.; and Mrs. Daina Rice Hill of Hickory, N.C.
Jordan Taylor West and Mackenzie Morgan West of Suffolk, cousins of the bride, served as flower girls, along with Savannah Harrell, dog of the bride and groom.
Mr. Dee Solon Finley Jr., father of the groom, served as the best man.
Groomsmen included: Brian Vasquez Alday of New York City;. Gustavo A. Colberg of Anchorage, Alaska; Brian Paul Kellar of Fort Worth; Bradley Alan Kentor of Austin, Texas; and Thaddeus Andrew Paul of Washington, D.C.
The mistresses of ceremony were Mrs. Ruth Harrell West and Mrs. Alice Harrell Welsh, aunts of the bride.
The master of ceremony was R. Glenn Yelvington, of Forth Worth, friend of the bride and groom.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a tented outdoor reception catered by the 3 P’s Cooking Team of Windsor. The wedding cake, groom’s cake, and table of fruits, vegetables and cheeses were provided by Judy’s Cakes and Catering. Mr. and Mrs. Wes Alexander served as DJ’s for the evening. The previous evening, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents at the Town Point Club in Norfolk.
The bride is a graduate of Nansemond-Suffolk Academy in Suffolk. She graduated cum laude from North Carolina State University with a bachelor’s degree in industrial design.
She is employed by the Bombay Company in Fort Worth.
The groom is a graduate of Trinity Valley School in Fort Worth. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a finance degree and also holds a master’s of business from Texas Christian University.
He is employed by the Bank of America in Fort Worth.
Following a honeymoon on the island of Jumby Bay in the British West Indies, the couple will reside in Fort Worth.

Mr. and Mrs. Brian Alday hosted an engagement party in honor of the bride and groom in January 2003 at their home in Fort Worth.
Mrs. Joanne Copeland, Mrs. Carolyn Crowder, Mrs. Robin Harrell, Mrs. Alice Welsh, and Mrs. Ruth West, all aunts of the bride, hosted a floating shower honoring the bride on Feb. 7 at the home of Mrs. Ruth West in Suffolk.
Lisa Allen, Mrs. Kim Bamonte, and Mrs. Daina Hill, friends of the bride, hosted a home shower honoring the bride on Feb. 22 at the home of Lisa Allen in Raleigh, N.C.
Mr. R. Glenn Yelvington honored the bride and groom with a dinner party on April 8 at his home in Fort Worth.
Mr. and Mrs. William Kirtley, Mr. and Mrs. Howell Mann and Ms. Delores Hummel honored the bride and groom with an hors d’oeuvres party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Kirtley on Apr. 16 in Fort Worth.
A bridal brunch on April 24 was hosted by 13 members of Broadway Baptist Church of Fort Worth, at the home of Mrs. Harriet Harral in Fort Worth.
