Estelle A. Kelsey

Estelle Austin &uot;Pluckie&uot; Kelsey of 14125 Blue Ridge Trail, Windsor, embarked upon her final journey into eternal rest, soon to reunite with her loved ones who preceded her. This little bundle of joy was placed in the arms and hearts of Joseph and Annie Lee Davis Austin.

&uot;Pluckie,&uot; as she was affectionately called by her family and friends, was placed in the hands of Jesus on Friday, April 30, 2004, at her residence.

She was born and raised in Suffolk and attended Booker T. Washington High School in Suffolk. After graduating from high school, she relocated to New York. After moving to New York, she met and married Julian Kelsey. She retired as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service after 15 years of service. After retiring, she moved backed to Suffolk.

She was a faithful and dedicated member of East End Baptist Church where she served faithfully on the Usher Board until her health began to decline.

She was also a member of the Golden Gate Temple No. 90, Daughter of I.B.P.O.E of W, the Suffolkian Club, Chums Club, Order of Eastern Star and other auxiliaries.

She is survived by her husband, Julian T. Kelsey; one daughter, Deborah Kelsey of Laurelton, N.Y.; one son, Lenzie Kelsey, of the home; one sister, Molley Savage of Windsor; three grandchildren, Quanisha L. Kelsey of Laurelton; Ivan S. Chee of Fort Worth, Texas; and Sheamani K. Kelleblere of Portsmouth; one great-grandson, Julian G. Kelsey; a godson, Travis D. Smith of the North Pole, Alaska; two goddaughters, Essie Edwards of Chesapeake, and Mazie Blount of Petersburg; a very devoted family friend, Phillip Edwards of Chesapeake; and many nieces and nephews, family and close friends.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in East End Baptist Church by Dr. Mark A. Croston. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in Crocker Funeral Home.

The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
