More than 150 Paul D. Camp Community College students marched into the Regional Workforce Center on May 14 to receive degrees and certificates as the Franklin High School Band, under the direction of Alvin Wilson, played &uot;Pomp and Circumstance.&uot;

Dr. Belle Wheelan, secretary of education, gave the graduation address. Local Board Chair, Lydia Duke, welcomed and recognized the platform guests, Dr. Gerald J. Pyle Jr., professor of English, served as chief marshal and the PDCCC Gospel Choir performed two musical selections.

Duke presented a resolution honoring the late Pauline C. Morton, past board chair. Morton’s granddaughter, Kaye Boone, received the award on behalf of the family.

Dr. Douglas W. Boyce, PDCCC president, presented the Educator of the Year Award to Patricia R. Hathaway, assistant professor of information systems technology.

Boyce asked graduates joining PDCCC’s Alumni Society to stand and be recognized. Dr. Patsy Joyner, vice president for institutional advancement, introduced the graduation speaker, and Amanda Moegenberg, president of Phi Theta Kappa, recognized and congratulated the honor graduates and PTK members.

Boyce conferred degrees and Dr. Maxine B. Singleton, vice president of instruction and student development, presided over the degrees and certificates.
