For too long, the situation at Carver Memorial Cemetery has been a troublesome one. Apparent neglect, for one thing, has upset many families who have loved ones buried at the East Washington Street site. But a Virginia Beach firm’s recent purchase of could be the long hoped-for solution.

Last Wednesday, DD&B Carver Cemetery LLC paid $200,000 to Abraham Applewhite Sr., who has frequently been under city and state scrutiny for his operation of the cemetery.

DD&B’s business partners W. Michael Robinson and William Mann have already hired an experienced person to operate cemetery, and the men are expected to quickly begin repairs and regular maintenance.

This and the restoration work will go a long way in not only fixing the cemetery, but rebuilding trust in residents hoping to have a proper resting place.
